 This course provides an introduction to the statistical analysis of categorical data. Topics covered include:

  • Introduction to categorical variables and probability distributions
  • Contingency tables
  • Comparing proportions
  • Odds ratio
  • Testing independence
  • Multicategory logit models
  • Count data analysis
  • Model-building strategies

The course will use a variety of real-world data sets to illustrate the concepts and methods discussed. Students will learn how to use statistical software to analyze categorical data and interpret the results.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the basic concepts of categorical data analysis
  • Use statistical software to analyze categorical data
  • Interpret the results of statistical analyses of categorical data
